Yes, when you apply the mask created from the smashed avocado pulp it works in 4 ways.

  1. It helps to heal skin by adding moisture
  2. The natural oils lock the moisture deeper into the skin to keep skin hydrated for longer periods
  3. It contains vitamin A (a natural form of retinol). Retinol can help boost new cell growth, and collagen production. The more collagen the skin produces the visible lines and wrinkles. Collagen is responsible for keeping skin tight, and youthful looking.
  4. Helps to fight free radicals that can destroy skin cells. This can lead to wrinkles, lax skin, dark spots, and other skin discolorations. The vital nutrients in avocado fruit act as natural sunscreen and can increase the effectiveness of sunscreens you are using on your skin.

Anti-aging Benefits of Avocados

There are anti aging benefits as well. The inflammatory benefits and the natural emollient oils absorb easily into the skin, and have been show in studies to slow wrinkle formation. The avocado in contains a natural form of retinol which has been proven to boost new cell turnover, and increase collagen production. Which means that your skin could be newer, fresher, and glowing if you use an avocado mask a 2-3 times a week. Many store bought lotions claim to treat dry skin, but in reality they only soften the surface of the skin. It can take many applications of a store bought lotion, and it needs to be reapplied through out the day to keep the skin from drying out again. However, when you apply an avocado mask the natural oils and antioxidants can penetrate deeper into the lower layers of the skin and create longer-lasting moisturizing benefits.

Oily Skin? If you have oily skin or acne don’t despair avocados can work magic on your skin as well. Using an avocado mask can give your skin a very deep clean without or harsh ingredients. Let the natural mask penetrate deep into the pores and draws out the impurities and cleans out dead skin cells with the power of amino acids, retinol, and glutamine. An avocado mask will leave your skin deep cleaned, healthy and help improve blemishes. This is a much more gentle option  than harsh store bought chemicals that can cause irritation, redness or peeling.
